Awareness is the cornerstone for all meaningful change in your life.
After all, if you’re not aware of what you are doing in the present moment, how can you change your behavior for the better.
If your not aware of the thoughts and emotions affecting you in the present moment you can’t get a clear view of reality and you certainly cannot make a good decision with the committee ranting.
In short, meditation is your window to FLOURISHING in REAL WORLD.
Roger Hamilton has meditated regularly since the early 90’s primarily in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition and just recently become certified as a teacher of Meditation and Mindfulness.
He will offer meditation instruction specifically aimed at the recovering alcoholic or addict either in person or online.
Watch for the following (if you’re registered with us we’ll send you an email, if not we’ll announce it either at meetings of FlourishInSobriety or on-line):
- Live 2 hour “Introduction to Meditation” workshops to give you the why’s and wherefore’s so that you can decide if you want to pursue meditation further.
- An eight-week Mindfulness Meditation course at our facility; and
- A 28 day challenge: An short e-mail each day for four weeks offering education and inspiration with 4 guided meditations.
There are several meditation practices that will be available depending where you are in your program:
- Mindfulness Meditation – to simply become aware and present and gradually break down the ego.
- Lovingkindness Meditation – to break down the walls between you and the other whether it be a close friend, a despised enemy and any place in between.
- Sacred meditation – to reach your Higher Power no matter what faith you may profess.
